Should I get double cylinder locks?

The double cylinder dead bolts give the sense that the house is secured well and that's true according to our experts. Though, they're usually not recommended or even prohibited in some buildings. In case of a fire or similar emergencies, people might get trapped in the building since they won't be able to unlock the door easily.

Are emergency exits weak entry points?

Emergency exits usually lock from the outside and open with a panic bar from the inside. That's the meaning of having an emergency exit so that people in large buildings can exit the premises in case of a fire or earthquake. They are completely secure as long as the panic bar and door locks work fine.

What is a master key?

A master key is a key that can open any lock in the house as long as it is custom coded to have the same number combination or created by the same manufacturer. It's usually not recommended to adjust your locks to one key.

Why keys rust?

Keys rust because they are made of steel. Steel erodes when it is exposed to moisture and oxygen for a long time. For this reason, you must protect your keys from getting wet or being left in a damp place for long. If they rust, key replacement is the answer or they'll break and you'll be faced with a house lockout.

Do more pins in the lock’s keying system give you higher security?

Yes, they do. A lock with six rather than five pins will be much more difficult and time-consuming to pick.
